Our Division Athletics Team
We’d like to congratulate our 14 students that participated on Tuesday at the Beachside Division Athletics carnival at Duncan McKinnon Reserve. It ended up being a very warm 26 degree day; so all athletes were a little in shock dealing with the temperature change, on top of the pre-nerves!
We’d like to note how proud we are of all 14 of these students with the SF team support they all gave to each other over the day - with many getting to the venue a little earlier or staying post their own event/s to help cheer on our other SF athletes! Our amazing St. Finbar’s team spirit was certainly alive and present!

Regional representatives: We’d like to congratulate both Edie and Archer who placed top 2 in their respective event/s and are now set to participate in the next level of competition; SMR Regional Athletics next week on Monday 21st of October. We wish them both all the very best for this.
The first of our four Regional representative HoopTime teams participated in their next-level tournament this week on Wednesday. It was a great day of competitive games for them, where they managed to win 1, lose 2 over their pool games. The Falcons made it through to the qualifying finals, however unfortunately went down to a very strong team from Hamilton.
A massive thank you goes to Lee Holdsworth for coaching the team once again, and to the many mums that gave up their days to assist with driving and scoring. We’d like to congratulate this team of 9 players for showing true St. Finbar’s values over the day, by staying positive, displaying good sportsmanship and playing as a ‘team’ over the day.
Well done to : Lexi O (6T), Olivia B (6H), Ava H (6H), Ivy C (6T), Maisy H (6H), Leo K (5H), Jude H (5B), Abel C (6H) and Finlay D (6T).

FURTHER PARENT HELPERS REQUIRED: All teams will require at least 1-2 parents to support the managing and scoring of games over the day. If you’d like to support your child’s team on this day, please email Tania with your availability. 9.10am - 2.30pm, or ½ day support would be much appreciated. Thank you to those parents that have offered their time and efforts so far.
Our Term 4 sporting highlight is our Whole School Swimming Carnival, set to take place on Friday 29th November. This year’s carnival will be held at MSAC in the large outdoor undercover pool. The Junior and Senior carnival will be run in the same pool, with a boom separating the pool into two.
Parents: please lock this date into your diaries now! This event does require the wonderful support from numerous parent helpers for both the Junior (P-2) and Senior (3-6) carnivals. An Operoo email with all relevant details will be sent out to all families in the next few weeks.
