Did you know that our school motto is based on an expression Mother Teresa used when venturing out to serve the poor? She is reported to have said, "Let's do Something Beautiful for God," as she helped those who were helpless.

St Teresa of Calcutta, also known as Mother Teresa, was born on August 26, 1910, in a place called Skopje, which is now in North Macedonia. Her real name was Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu. When she was 18 years old, she decided to become a nun and moved to Ireland and then to India.

In India, she saw many poor and sick people who needed help. She felt a strong calling from God to help them, so she started a group called the Missionaries of Charity. This group of nuns worked very hard to take care of the poorest people, giving them food, shelter, and love.

Mother Teresa believed that helping others was a way to do “Something Beautiful for God.” She was very kind and always helped those in need. She received many awards for her work, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.

St Teresa passed away on September 5, 1997, but her work continues through the Missionaries of Charity. Mother Teresa was made a saint by the Catholic Church in 2016, and her feast day is celebrated on September 5th every year.
