Year 3 Excursion - King's Park

Our Year Threes braved the wild weather on Friday 23 August to attend Bush Camp at Kings Park.

They learnt how to protect and respect the natural environment, while enjoying and exploring it safely. Navigating the Australian bush, building simple shelters and creating campfires were just some of the amazing lessons they learnt! Students participated in two activities: Nature kid and Brilliant Botanists.

At Brilliant Botanists students dissected a seed to observe its parts (seed coat, embryo, and endosperm), observe the process of germination and how the embryo develops into a seedling, various plant life cycles, discussing the process of photosynthesis and how plants use sunlight, carbon dioxide and water to produce glucose, and planting their own seed.

During Nature Kid, children learned about basic bush survival including fire making and sourcing clean water. They also took part in team building activities.
