Acting Principal's Message

Thank you St Andrew's Community!

Dear Families,

We are approaching the end of Week 7, Term 3! The term has been flying past, full of activity and learning.

The Prep, 1 and 2 students have been enjoying the swimming program at Aquastar in Moorabbin. Thank you to our teachers, learning support staff and amazing parent volunteers who are supporting this program and making it so successful. It is a big job for our staff taking 20 or so little people to the pool! Just a reminder to make sure all of your child's/childrens items are labelled- including bathers!

We wish all of the Father's, and special people in the lives of our children at St Andrew's a special Father's Day this weekend. We hope you are treated to a special time with your loved ones on this day.

Father's Day Stall

Students will still have the opportunity to purchase a gift from the Father's Day stall for their Dad or special person in their life, on Friday 30th August. Prices range from $2 to $10.

Thank you to our amazing volunteer mum's and P&F for organising a wonderful stall for our children, they are always so excited to go shopping for their special people.

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS)

Monday 2 September to Friday 20 September 2024.

Gaining your critical Feedback about St Andrew’s School

Throughout each year, we pause to listen to our students, families and staff to gauge how our learning community is travelling. This feedback is invaluable to our progress as an effective school community and is backed by evidence-based research and best practices.

A significant and formal way in which we engage and gather data is through MACSSIS, the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys.

MACSSIS is a set of surveys that have been built specifically for Catholic schools in Melbourne by the Learning Services team at MACS, in partnership with researchers at Learning First and in wide consultation with principals in our schools.

In 2024, students, families and staff are invited to participate in MACSSIS via our secure and purpose-built online platform. The online platform is where our school leaders will access the summary reports that visualise the results of the student, family and staff surveys.    All individual survey results are anonymous.

The MACSSIS survey platform is operated by an independent supplier, ORIMA Research Pty Ltd. The platform meets with the high security and privacy standards for handling student and school data.

Family Surveys - Family surveys will be made available to all St Andrew’s families.  Families can complete the MACSSIS survey anytime over the three-week window, (Monday 2 September to Friday 20 September 2024).    Families will be sent an email with the online survey link to access the survey along with a unique password allocated to each family.

Staff Surveys- All staff will complete the MACSSIS survey with the same time frame as our parents.

Student Surveys - We will advise families and students of the delivery and implementation of student surveys.

Our community’s opinions are critical to understanding how our school is performing – MACSSIS is a key data source for guiding the ongoing work to improve our school.

Participation is 100 percent voluntary. The surveys are not a test; they are an inclusive way to support the work we are already doing to improve our school. Everyone has the right to refuse to participate, or withdraw from the survey at any point before, during or after completion of the survey. Please notify the school if your child does not wish to participate.

If you would like more information, please feel welcome to contact me at nblack@saclaytonsth.catholic.edu.au

Students not returning in 2025

As we plan ahead for 2025 classes, we ask any families who know that they will not be returning to St. Andrew's in 2025 to inform the school as soon as possible by clicking on the button below and filling in the form.

Parent/Child/Teacher Interviews on Monday 16th September - All grades except Prep R and 3/4T

Bookings will be open soon for the Semester 2 Parent/Child/Teacher Interviews. Interviews will be 10 minutes and held in the School Hall on Monday 16th September between 2.30pm and 7.00pm.

The booking code will be sent out to families closer to the date.

We encourage all children to be active participants in the 10 minute interviews.    This provides an opportunity for children to share their learning journey and successes with their family and to also be active responsible participants in their own learning.

Optional Child School Attendance – Monday 16th September  - 1.35pm-3.15pm

Teaching staff will be released on the afternoon of Monday 16th September to commence their interviews’.   Children remaining at school for the afternoon block will be grouped in levels and supervised by staff who are not required at these Interviews.

Parents attending interviews may collect their child/ren from these level gatherings.

Parents do have the option of collecting their child/ren from their classroom at 1.25pm.

Collection of children assists staff by reducing the number of children being present in the afternoon block.

Semester 1 Parent/Child/Interviews

Prep R and Year 3/4T - Interviews will be held upon their return from leave, at the start of Term 4.

2024 School Calendar

The 2024 School Calendar is available on the School Website. It can be found mid-way down on the front page under the heading ‘WHAT’S ON’.   We will endeavour, where possible, to remain true to the dates on the 2024 calendar.
