Monday 19th of August, 2024

On the 19th of August 2024 the Grade 6’s had their assembly. The focus was the 2024 charity fete that is currently being put together. 6 Thomson researched charities for children with disabilities and their chosen charity that they would donate to was Blind Citizens Australia. 6 Beach researched charities for Indigenous children and their chosen charity that they would donate to was The healing Foundation. 6 Pinney researched children’s charities and chose Our Village to where they would donate their money. The Grade 6’s then showcased the Fete stalls that they have been working on. The charity will be held on the 13th of September 2024. Remember, start saving your dollars and get ready for a really fun charity fete!

The Year Six assembly was a joyous experience to talk about our upcoming event, Charity Fete. Each Year Six student got to choose a charity to research. 6 Beach had to research charities that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. 6 Pinney had to research charities that support children. 6 Thomson had to research charities that support people with a disability. As a whole class, the students got to vote for their favourite charity to donate to. The three charities that were selected are: Our Village, Blind Citizens Australia and The Healing Foundation. For the assembly, the Year Six students got to choose if they wanted a reading role or not. It was a excellent practice for people to speak in front of a large crowd of people. Some students felt nervous to speak aloud, but with a few practices, they felt more confident to say their lines. Everyone did a great job doing their part, whether it was speaking, or even being respectful and sitting down silently the whole time.

On the 19th of August, we had our Year 6 assembly. Up on stage, I was both nervous and excited to read my part. We practiced really hard and tried our best. It was really exciting listening to the funny whoo's, and it was a fun experience for all in the end! We hope the school liked it.
