Book Week Celebrations

Last week we celebrated Book Week and what a week it was!

Monday started with a story immersion activity for K-2 students. Miss Negus read CBCA nominated Every Night at Midnight written by Peter Cheong and then followed it up the student’s creating a depiction of their own animal at midnight.

At the same time 3-6 students went on a story walk. Listening to the story Chalk Boy, being read by Mrs Duffin, Mr A and Mrs Grose at different locations around the school.

On the Tuesday the library transformed into Hogwarts. The students in 3-6 participated in an escape room, a lot of fun was had by all. Luckily all the students kept their earmuffs on when replanting the mandrakes.

At the same time K-2 students went on a story walk. Listening to the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar, being read by Mrs Duffin, Mr A and Mrs Van Gemert at different locations around the school.

Wednesday saw the main event, the Book Parade!! There were amazing costumes wherever you looked, a highly engaging staff performance and it all ended with the announcement of the winners of our book week competitions. It was a brilliant day.

But it wasn’t over yet! On Thursday Gregg Dreise, the author and illustrator of over 27 books, visited our school. Gregg was engaging, insightful and downright hilarious. We were so lucky to participate in his author visit. Gregg also took the time to go down and look at Kindergarten’s art that was inspired by his books and taught by the brilliant Mrs Brooks.

And to finish up our amazing week we, we participated in Drop Everything and Read in our playground on Friday afternoon.

We hope you all had as much fun as we did celebrating book week!
