Year 1/2 Learning Reflection

Using the Sounds Write Program on the IPADs to reinforce our knowledge of sounds.

On Thursday the 17th August we celebrated Science Week with a day filled with really exciting science experiences. We ended the day with a 'Mad About Science' Incursion. 

'Reading is Magic!' - Book Week Monday 19th August to Friday 23rd August.

Students had a great time creating their door display for 'Book Week'.  Make sure you walk down the corridor and have a look at our amazing creations!

During our Social and Emotional Learning we have been talking about how labels are for jars and not people. Student discussed that it is not helpful to apply labels to people based on their gender. 

We are beginning to explore division in Mathematics. We have been using concrete materials to help share a collection equally. When we share, we already know the total of our collection, however we need to work out how many each group will receive. 

Daily handwriting practise focusing on correct pencil grip, letter starting points and the position of letters on the line continue to be a focus. 

Reader's Theatre: Students practise reading aloud, which helps improve fluency- the ability to read with accuracy, speed and expression.
