Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
With the warmer weather finally arriving in Orange, now is a good reminder for everyone to be sun safe - wear a hat, slap on some sunscreen and seek some time in the shade if you are feeling too hot. All students and staff are asked to wear a hat on the playground at break times. For students this needs to be the school bucket hat, wide-brimmed hat or cap. Baseball caps brought in by students from home that do not have the school logo cannot be worn at school and are to be kept at home.
Wearing the school uniform creates a culture of pride and belonging. Students can connect and socialise with each other without the stress of competition for the coolest hat. Our hats and caps are available to buy at Orange Clothing Company, 4 McNamara Street.
Be Safe: Hats for play, enjoy the day!

Positive Wellbeing for Learning - PWL
Next term we will be focusing on the character pillar of Hope.
Hope is not just about wishful dreaming of better things. Hope consists of agency and pathways. The person who has hope has the will and determination that goals will be achieved, and a set of different strategies at their disposal to reach their goals. Put simply: hope involves the will to get there, and different ways to get there.
Why is hope important? Well, life is difficult. There are many obstacles. Having goals is not enough. One has to keep getting closer to those goals, amidst all the inevitable twists and turns of life. Hope allows people to approach problems with a mindset and strategy-set suitable to success, thereby increasing the chances they will actually accomplish their goals.
We will be reading the book, "The Girl Who Planted Trees." In this story a young girl who hopes for the regeneration of the forest where she lives. She works hard and stays determined after setbacks and finally reaches her goal. Every student will be planting seeds, and we will aim for a wonderful "Garden of Hope" to be blooming by the end of term 4. Watch this space for updates as the plants grow.
