Prep - This term, students will be focusing on physical sciences and learning about how different things move. In lesson four, students continued their investigation about how different objects roll. We discussed how shape, weight, size and surface can affect how an object rolls.

 

Grades 1 and 2 - This term, students will be focusing on digital technologies and learning to program the Tale-Bot Pro robot. In lesson four, students put arms on the Tale-Bot Pros and coded the robot to use their arms to collect blocks. Some students challenged themselves to collect two different blocks from their mat in one program.

Grades 3 - This term, students will be focusing on digital technologies and learning to program the VinciBot robot. In lesson four, students learned how to program the VinciBot to show different face displays. They learned how to change the face image and how to scroll words across the screen. Students were required to build a code on their computer to follow a set path and change the image at specific locations along the path. 

 

Grades 4 - This term, students will be focusing on digital technologies and learning to program the VinciBot robot. In lesson four, students completed their own coding challenges, deciding the path the robot would follow and the actions the robot would do. This activity often took several attempts of coding, testing, adjusting and retesting before achieving success.

Grades 5 - This term, students will be focusing on digital technologies and learning to program a micro:bit. In lesson four, students started their first challenge - they were tasked with creating a code to display and emergency message for a natural disaster. The message needed to give a warning, show an image for 1 second, give instructions and then show a moving image twice (with this all on a continuous loop).  

 

Grades 6 - This term, students will be focusing on digital technologies and learning to program a micro:bit. In lesson four, students started working on their Build a Robot challenge. They decided what they want their robot to do, identified what equipment they would need and started to build their code. Students will be working on this activity for a few weeks and will load their finished products on Seesaw for you to see.
