Visual Arts

Students in grade 2 were read the text “Litlelight” by Kelly Canby. After discussing the themes of acceptance and celebration of differences, the students set about weaving a brick wall with fluoro papers. The grey town in the story was then also transformed by the colours of the music, food, language and books of people from different cultures, just like the houses you see in these artworks.

Students in both grades 5 and 6 have begun working on a stitched card project. Designs were created on a dotted grid before being transferred to perforated card. Students have learnt running stitch, back stitch and cross stitch as well as getting in lots of needle threading practice!
