Grade 4 News

In Grade 4, we are continuing our class novel Storm Boy

We’ve been discussing Storm Boy’s special relationship with Percival, the pelican who’s more like a friend than a pet. Students are also learning about the unique Coorong region and using this knowledge to write an information report.

In Mathematics, we have completed our unit on angles — including acute, obtuse, reflex, straight, revolution, and right angles. Students are encouraged to spot and name different angles at home to reinforce their learning. We have now begun exploring fractions, and regular maths practice at home, particularly multiplication tables, will be very beneficial.

In Religion, we are exploring Jesus’ Parables, discussing their messages and how they can be applied in our lives today.

In History, we are learning about the First Fleet and the challenges faced by the first settlers in the new colony of Australia. Students are investigating what life was like in these early days and how people adapted to the unfamiliar land and conditions.

Please continue to encourage daily reading at home to build fluency and comprehension skills.

A reminder that our Book Week Parade is next Monday — we can’t wait to see everyone’s creative costumes!
