Elective Music Performance Showcase – A Triumphant Beginning

Last week, we proudly hosted our inaugural Elective Music Performance Showcase, bringing together families, friends, and members of the College community to celebrate the dedication and passion of our talented young musicians. The evening was the culmination of the work in our Elective Music classrooms throughout the year. Performances ranged from soulful solos to vibrant ensemble pieces, showcasing not only technical skill but also creativity, collaboration, and the joy of making music. The packed audience was treated to a vibrant program spanning Beethoven to Billy Joel and The Beatles, with performances showcasing everything from traditional instruments to bouzoukis and a piano accordion!

The Showcase was met with enthusiastic applause, recognising both the artistry and the courage of our performers. It was a night filled with inspiration, community spirit, and an appreciation for the hard work that goes into every note played. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who attended, supported, and encouraged our musicians, and we look forward to seeing this special event grow into a proud annual tradition. Bravo to our talented performers and their music teachers – the legacy and future of music at St Pius X College is in excellent hands.

HSC Music Trials

Well done to our Music 1, Music 2, and Music Extension students, who performed their HSC programs with their accompanists for external examiners at the Music Trials practical examination last week. This important milestone gave them valuable experience and feedback in preparation for their upcoming final HSC practical examinations, where they will once again showcase their skills and musicality.

Feast of the Assumption Mass

Our Junior Chorale and Senior Chorale students will be performing at the 10:30 am Feast of the Assumption Mass at Our Lady of Dolours on Friday. Parents and caregivers should have received an email from Mr Saar with detailed information. We will have a combined choir rehearsal this Thursday morning to prepare for this special Feast Day.

Celebration of Learning: Next Monday, 18 August will see our Intermediate Concert Band provide music at the Celebration of Learning for Years 7 – 10 at The Concourse.  This will also provide a valuable rehearsal opportunity before they compete at the State Championships in a few weeks. We thank our ICB members and their conductor, Ms Laura Power for this valuable contribution to the event. Students will meet Ms Power at the music rooms at 9:00 am for set up and subsequent rehearsal at The Concourse.
