Principal Report

Mrs Luckman

What an exciting fortnight it has been!

We’ve had a wonderful couple of weeks filled with learning and community celebrations.

  • Book Week was a highlight, with students and staff dressing up as their favourite characters and enjoying activities that celebrated a love of reading.
  • Melbourne Cup Day brought plenty of fun and colour, with lots of racing fun and opportunities for our students to mix with our local schools.
  • Our Grade 6 students attended their Transition Day, where they had the chance to meet new teachers, explore their next school setting, and build confidence for the year ahead.
  • We also celebrated Father’s Day / Special Person’s Day, which was hugely attended and enjoyed. It was wonderful to see so many families come together to celebrate the important people in our students’ lives.
  • A big thank you to our Parents and Friends group, who treated us to a delicious chicken fried rice lunch—always a hit with both students and staff!

Behind the scenes, staff have been busy updating our curriculum documents to meet the new requirements of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0. We are also reviewing how our instructional model aligns with the VTLM 2.0 and making any adjustments needed to strengthen and build this further.

Parent Opinion Survey

At this stage, we have had seven families complete the Parent Opinion Survey. We strongly encourage all families to take a few minutes to participate before the survey closes on Thursday, 19th September.

Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us—it helps shape our school’s priorities, highlights what we are doing well, and shows us where we can continue to grow. The more families who take part, the more accurate and meaningful the results will be in reflecting our whole school community.

Grade 3/6 Camp – Next Week

We are very excited for our upcoming Grade 3/6 Camp next week. Students have so many wonderful learning opportunities and experiences ahead, and we know it will be a memorable time for all.

  • Departure: Parents/carers are asked to drop students at Bendigo Train Station no later than 9:00am on the morning of departure. Unfortunately, we are unable to wait if families arrive late, so please ensure you allow plenty of time.
  • Return: Students will return on Friday at 3:50pm. Parents/carers are required to collect students from Bendigo Train Station at this time.
  • Day One Requirements: Students need to bring their own lunch, drink bottle, and snack for the first day.
  • Spending Money: Students are welcome to bring some money for the Queen Victoria Market, should you wish.
  • Camp Forms: Please ensure that all camp forms are completed and returned. At this stage, forms are overdue, so we ask families to send these in immediately.

We thank you for your support in preparing the students for camp and look forward to a fantastic week ahead.

Principal Professional Learning

I have been fortunate to be selected and fully funded to attend the Victorian Principals Association (VPA) Conference in Melbourne this coming Thursday and Friday. This is a wonderful opportunity for me to connect with other school leaders, gain valuable resources, and hear from experts in education.

The focus of the conference will be on leadership, student learning, and wellbeing, and I look forward to bringing back fresh ideas and strategies that will further strengthen our school programs and support our students and staff.

VACATION CARE

Looking for something fun and engaging for your children these holidays? Look no further – book them in today! This program is open to all families in our community with school-aged children, and regular attendance at the program is not required.
