Cassia 1 & 2 News

Dear Cassia families,

Goodness, isn’t the country singing at the moment! Today on our bush walk, we reveled in the beauty of the wildflowers.

This is the time of year when we deepen our woodwork skills. The five-year-olds have the opportunity to make wooden blocks-a process that strengthens their inner will and motor skills as they carefully and skillfully sand and polish each piece. As they work, they watch the six-year-olds, who are busily engaged in making their very own swords.

Sword making is a much-anticipated milestone in Cassia. It involves many steps and calls for care, determination, gross and fine motor skills, patience, sequencing, and so much more. (As I write this, it’s lovely to reflect on all the layers of development that woodwork supports!) There is a deep sense of regard and reverence for this craft in our Cassia Garden, and the children approach it with great excitement and focus.

An event to note: On Wednesday 20th August at 3:15 pm, the school is lucky enough to host Andrew Hill, who has a deep well of knowledge and wisdom to share. His talk, Stronger, Brighter, Deeper: The “Feeling” Curriculum in Steiner Education, promises to be both insightful and inspiring. Keep an eye out for more information about the location, which will be confirmed soon.

Wishing you a lovely weekend,

Love from,

Maz, Pep, Sophie, and Letetia
