Whats been happening around the school..

What a fantastic Book Week!
Our staff and students had an amazing time dressing up as their favourite book characters today. The creativity and excitement in the costumes was wonderful to see. A big thank you to all the parents and guardians who joined us to cheer on the parade!
The beginning of Book Week which we are super excited about in Years 5/6! We read a picture story book called 'The Garden Of Broken Things' by Freya Blackwood and then wrote a paragraph describing our ideal garden.
River - "it is big, it has trees raining hamburgers and pizza lush green grass and potatoes are all baked and monkeys get you food but the monkeys leave moon bean ice cream. Moon bean ice cream grows up to 50 feet and Bobby Carter is king of the garden"
Ivy - "in my garden - a statue of carved stone dominates the space. Adonis and Aphrodite, both wearing a pair of laurel crowns. Flowers in spring always in full bloom into a flourish. And trees that swell with fine fruits that ripen by day, by autumn, roses linger until they decay. Petals plucked and leaves crunched under foot. Up ahead are the walls that fence my garden. A fair faerie prince on top a fountain is carved of stone, a broken crown adorns a head of carved stone. Covered in vine of misuse, from years that have left it absent and lone under the moonlit skies. Cardon Green Briar engraved on the stone plaque"
Zax - "If I had to make a garden it would have a river with a filter that provides water for the automatic sprinklers that water everything periodically. And in the garden there would be 100,000,000 cocoa plants. Then I'd have a worker that works for me for $10-$100 an hour"
Amelia - "My ideal garden there are bunches of flourishing flowers, relishing ripe apples, watermelons and cherries. The roses and lavender are flourishing flowers and smell lovely and the birds are singing. The squirrels are chattering and the carrots are ripe."
Gordon - "it is big, it has trees raining hamburgers and pizza lush green grass and potatoes are all baked and monkeys get you food but the monkeys leave moon bean ice cream. Moon bean ice cream grows up to 50 feet and Bobby Carter is king of the garden"
Grease is the word...
Thursday 21st our Grade 5 students had the wonderful opportunity to watch Grease the musical at St Mary MacKillop College. They had a fantastic time—well done to everyone involved on such a fabulous production!
What a week of science fun!
Our students explored, experimented and discovered through a range of hands-on activities during Science Week. Curious minds were buzzing with excitement – especially with Mrs Caldwell leading the way!
Melbourne Cup Tour
The Melbourne Cup was introduced in 1861 by the Victorian Turf Club to trump the success of Victorian Jockey Club races such as the Two Thousand Guineas. As a handicap race, the Melbourne Cup introduced a level of speculation that the club hoped would attract more entries, and therefore higher prize money. The Melbourne Cup has cemented itself as a part of Melbourne and Australian culture.
The Melbourne Cup Tour sharies the magic of Australia’s most iconic race with communities far and wide! Since 2003, the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour has clocked over a million kilometres, visited 680+ towns, and helped raise vital funds along the way. From Warracknabeal to Walcha to Winton, we’re bringing the thrill, the stories, and the sparkle of the Cup straight to you.
We were lucky enough today to have the Cup visit our school as part of its tour, giving students the opportunity to learn a lot about its history."
