Principal's Message

Dear Holy Family Parents and Carers,

Staffing Update

Sadly, due to personal reasons, Mrs. Maund will be taking a leave of absence effective from this week. We fully support her during this time and wish her all the best and look forward to welcoming her back in the New Year.

During her absence, Mrs Amanda Simon, who is already a familiar face at Holy Family, will be taking over Mrs. Maund’s role. Mrs Simon has been teaching for nearly 20 years and has a passion for Music and Mathematics. We welcome Mrs Simon to Holy Family in her new role.

What's Been Happening This Week at Holy Family?

This week, Holy Family has been buzzing with excitement as we celebrated Book Week 2025! The theme, "Book an Adventure", inspired creativity, imagination, and a love for reading across the school. Mrs Edwards transformed the library into a series of magical worlds—from the vastness of space to the depths of the ocean, through mysterious jungles and more. Each space offered students an immersive experience into the world of books. Her creativity and effort have truly brought stories to life for our students. A huge "Thank You" to Mrs Edwards for her creativity and hard work! Students were also treated to a fabulous performance by Meerkat Productions, who brought children's books to life with energy and humour.

A standout moment of the week was our Book Week Parade, where students proudly dressed as characters from their favourite books. From timeless classics to modern favourites, the costumes were creative, colourful, and full of personality! Another favourite was the teacher's performance, where staff entertained everyone with their lively performance of "Book an Adventure."  A huge thank you to all our staff for participating so willingly and with such good spirit. Your energy, creativity, and commitment made the Book Week parade very special for our school community.

Meanwhile, Zing Activ dance lessons continued across all classes. Students are growing in confidence as they master new dance moves each week. We are looking forward to the students showcasing their learning at the end  of the term.

On Thursday, 38 of our students represented Holy Family with pride at the North Shore Athletics Carnival, held at Sydney Olympic Park. Our athletes competed in various track and field events, showing great sportsmanship, determination, and team spirit in spite of the wet and cold weather. Sincere thanks to the parents who braved the weather and supported the students.

To end this wonderful week of learning, today we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption with a beautiful mass at church. Father Thomas led the celebration, sharing his wisdom and reminding us of Mary’s faith, courage, and role as a guiding light in our lives. Many thanks to Mrs Stella, Mr Knapman and the Year 4 students for the wonderful preparation of the mass.

Kindest regards,

Pauline Dinale

Catholic Schools Broken Bay Redefines Education Across Diocese

Following last month’s launch of its bold and innovative five-year strategy, Shaping Tomorrow, Together in Faith, Catholic Schools Broken Bay (CSBB) has revealed transformational changes set to redefine Catholic education across the Diocese.

Unveiled by Bishop Anthony Randazzo on 4 July at the all-staff Strategy Day, the plan charts a visionary course for a Catholic education that is faith-driven, future- ready, and designed to meet the evolving needs of families.

“This strategy is about courageously shaping a future where every child can thrive from Baptism into post-school life,” Bishop Randazzo said. “Together, we are building an extraordinary future.” Director of Schools Danny Casey said the transformation is about far more than new facilities.

“We are expanding pathways, modernising facilities, and reshaping the way Catholic education supports parents and their children,” Mr Casey said. “Our aim is to walk alongside families from the very earliest years of learning, through school and beyond — while staying true to our mission of faith and academic excellence.”
