ST PATRICK'S DAY

Last Monday, a sea of green was seen across the school with our annual mufti day to celebrate St Patrick's Day. Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated on 17th March to commemorate Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.

Below are some photos of the children wearing green to school to celebrate the day. They donated gold coins that will be sent to Caritas—Project Compassion to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable communities globally. The children also enjoyed green cupcakes that Mrs Herden had made at recess and green jelly cups at the end of the day.

FEAST OF ST JOSEPH

The Feast of St Joseph is celebrated each year on March 19th. Tradition says that this was Joseph’s birthday. Joseph was the husband of Mary and the stepfather of Jesus. He was a carpenter who taught Jesus how to work with wood and helped him grow and learn.

Joseph became a model of faithful service to others by placing Mary and Jesus’ needs before his own. He shows us how to look after each other with compassion, care and concern.

St Joseph is an example to us of how an ordinary person can have an extraordinary love for others. How lucky we are to have St Joseph keeping a watchful guiding role over us.

This feast day is extra special for Sacred Heart School, which was founded by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1911.

Below are photos of the St Joseph's Day Liturgy held at school.

Holy Spirit,

Strengthen our students with your gifts of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord, and serve as a disciple of Christ. Grant that they may grow into the fullness of the stature of Christ. Fill them with the joy of your presence. Increase in them the fruit of your Spirit. Help them experience and trust your dwelling within so they can count on your guidance today and every day. Show us the way to help one another become better disciples of Jesus Christ, sharing your love with our world and with each person we meet. Come, Holy Spirit! Come!

Amen.
