Yr 6 Sovereign Hill Excursion
Our excited Year 6 students embarked on an unforgettable journey to Sovereign Hill, immersing themselves in Australia’s rich gold rush history. From panning for gold in the creek to exploring the bustling streets of this living museum, students experienced firsthand what life was like in the 1850s. They also visited historical shops, explored underground mines, and stepped back in time to discover the challenges and triumphs of the gold rush era.
The excursion provided a unique opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-life experiences. Walking through the recreated goldfields, students gained a deeper understanding of how the discovery of gold shaped Australia’s development. The hands-on activities and historical reenactments made learning engaging, fun, and memorable.
Yr 8 CyberLab Incursion
Earlier this week across 2 days, the creativity and innovation of more than 350 of our brilliant year 8 students was on full display, as they undertook a Cyber Lab program facilitated by Crazy Ideas College.
The Cyber Lab workshop encourages students to think critically about their behaviours online, and guides them to identify actionable steps to ensure they interact online in a way that aligns with their values.
As well as learning how to become responsible tech users, students considered the ethical questions around AI technology, explored how tech can enhance lives with care and intention, and furthered their knowledge on how to stay safe online. Students were encouraged to step into another person's shoes and invent new technology that will help them into the future.

Student Reflection
This gallery had many interesting pieces : chairs, tables, radios, the smallest Italian made car, typewriters and the first ever coffee machines. This gallery had something for everyone, new experiences to different fonts of art. This experience opened a world of art I never knew existed. Avni Year 10
There were many items from the 1950’s to the 2000’s. There were chairs that had meanings behind them along with some that were shaped weirdly and made in an unusual way. The experience of seeing modern art was exciting and interesting. Avaree Year 10
I liked the style of the building and the art of the people. I liked the colours of the chairs and the red car too. The cloud light was the best one. I liked the restaurant especially as the food was so good.I liked everything about the excursion. I liked the name of the building too. Modern Art was interesting and lovely. Ghezel Year 10
I liked the things in the Museum which were from the 1920-1970’s. They were very interesting, like the Vespa and the Fiat car. Karas Year 10
Things I liked were the Fiat 500 and the Vespa and all the old stuff in the Museum. Alexander Year 10
We were met by a guide who showed us through the exhibition. She showed us the Italian designs of the 20th Century like the cars, coffee machines and the lamps. The gallery had a cabin that had most of the designs and furniture put together in one home. It was filled with people, especially the café. Florina Year 10
We got to see lots of cool exhibits. My personal favourite was the Fiat 500. I learnt lots about Italy’s past, such as the Marshall plan. There were lots of sculptures inside and outside. The café was very busy and the food was awesome and authentic. Riley Year 10
I was very excited to visit. The modern art was very interesting along with the café and the food. I liked the coffee machines, the typewriters and the furniture. Nathalia.Year 10
We explored modern art and looked at many Italian designs from different years. We went to another part of the gallery which was actually a family home. It was modern and beautiful with really big rooms and tiny rooms. The café was great with good food and drinks. Jessica. Year 10
In the excursion, I learned the state of Italy after World War 2, the values and philosophies of the country and how these are reflected by the furniture from those years. I learned how different iconic Italian-made things like the Vespa came to be. I saw how the people evolved from the ideas of the past and how they combined art within functions to bring life upon ordinary objects. Paul Year 11
At the Heide Museum of Modern Art I was impressed by its mix of art, history, and nature. I enjoyed walking through the gardens and looking at the unique sculptures and exhibitions. My favourite part of the trip was seeing the Fiat 500 in all its glory, and I was intrigued by the fact that a whole family could fit in it there given its shape and volume. It’s a great place where art and nature comes together. Simrat Year 11
