The Green Room

If you haven't already heard about our wonderful Green Room, we welcome you to pop by and say hello!

The Green Room is located in the portable, next door to Mr Klvac's classroom. The Green Room is a space that students can come to and regulate their emotions in a safe and supportive environment.

Harmony Day

It was so wonderful to see so many students embracing Harmony Day today. The school yard was flooded in a sea of orange outfits, as well as many cultural clothing. SEPS truly is a wonderfully multicultural and inclusive community!

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Lessons

This week, our whole school has been focusing on using positive and kind language. Students are learning that polite words and kindness help everyone get along better, making it easier to work, play and build strong friendships. These skills are important not just for school but for life—helping in relationships, learning and even future workplaces.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing the Platinum Rule, which takes kindness a step further than the Golden Rule. Instead of treating others the way we want to be treated, it means treating them the way they want to be treated.

Everyone has different needs, preferences and feelings. What feels kind or helpful to one person might not be the same for someone else. The Platinum Rule encourages us to listen, be empathetic and respect what makes each person feel comfortable and valued.

Here are some ways to reinforce these lessons at home:

  • Model Kind Language: Use polite and kind words at home and encourage your child to do the same.
  • Talk About Feelings: Ask your child how different situations make them feel and how they think others might feel.
  • Practise Perspective-Taking: Encourage your child to consider what someone else might need or prefer in different situations.
  • Role-Play Scenarios: Act out different social situations and discuss how they could respond with kindness and empathy.
  • Celebrate Kindness: Notice and praise when your child uses kind words or considers someone else’s feelings.

By practising these ideas at home, you can help reinforce the importance of kindness, respect and empathy in everyday life.
