Teaching and Learning

By Trudy Gau

Congratulations to our Level 5 and Level 3 students who completed NAPLAN this week. We have been so proud of how you have all conducted yourselves and put in your best efforts - well done.

Student Learning

It was fabulous to see our younger students going on a 'hike' with Wilko in science. They learnt all about what animals need to survive. Our Foundation students were learning that 'Albert' needs food, water and shelter. He invited the students in to his shelter.

Teaching and Learning: Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0

Last week, Jane and I had the opportunity to attend a Principal Conference which focused on the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 (VTLM 2.0).

The conference brought together experts from overseas and Australia wide, who shared the latest research on the model and practical strategies for implementation. The model is based around the science of learning. One of the key takeaways from the conference was the reassurance that our school is on the right track. We are already aligning with best-practice guidelines and, in many ways, are ahead of other schools in our implementation journey.

With the expectation that VTLM 2.0 will be fully embedded by 2028, we are well-positioned to continue making steady progress. As we move into Term 2, leadership will provide ongoing professional development for the staff, to further deepen our understanding of VTLM 2.0. This will include continued unpacking of the model and what effective delivery in the classroom will look like. We look forward to working collaboratively with staff to ensure the successful implementation of this important framework.
