Visual Art
Here are some photos of the amazing portfolio covers created by Level 4 students. The quest was to think about a symbol or something that they liked or would represent them- their 'Story'. Students could choose their medium as well, from paint, posca pens, markers, pencils, 'lipstick pens (paint sticks) and sharpies. The results are wonderful!
Our latest provocation in Level 4 has been to make 'Buckets of Gratitude' using recycled materials. Students were asked to think about what they are grateful for and create images and symbols that would represent them. They developed their constructing and connecting skills and techniques to create these fabulous sculptures, as well as creating a food dye resist with oil pastels The next task will be to fill their buckets with more messages of gratefulness over the year, and look at them in the future to remind them of all the wonderful things in their life.

Mandarin
Our Foundation students have been learning how to greet each other in Mandarin! They have been practising saying I'm a girl or I'm a boy (我是男孩 wo shi nan hai,我是女孩 wo shi nv hai) and continue challenging themselves to write it in Chinese characters.
Seeing their enthusiasm and determination has been wonderful as they carefully write 男女boy and girl. They are improving their handwriting skills and learning the correct stroke order for each character. With practice, their writing is becoming neater and more confident. Well done, Preps! Keep up the great effort!
You are all amazing!

Physical Education
During our Foundation PE lessons, students have continued to participate in a modified Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) designed to enhance their balance, coordination, fitness, eye tracking, and locomotion skills. They have engaged in various skill-based stations, including bean bag throwing & catching, obstacle courses, planking, balancing and a class favourite—scissors, rock, paper hula hoops!
Our Level 5 buddies have also been visiting to support students at each station, ensuring they perform movements correctly and adjust skills as needed.
Our Level 1 & 2 students have continued to complete lessons with a focus on moving their bodies in different ways. Students have enjoyed team challenges which have incorporated hopping, jumping, skipping and various running skills.
In the upper school (Levels 3-6), students have continued to to learn racket/wall skills and strategies. All games have focused on being able to anticipate where a ball lands in the court and reacting and responding to hit the ball back in the court using the correct technique and strategy.

Science
Foundation
Foundation students have been studying the basic needs of living things, with a focus on food, shelter and water. They have started their gorgeous Flip and Find books, which will come home at the end of the term.
Level 1 & 2s
Levels 1 & 2 have been studying the seasons and the weather. You may have had your child helping you to identify the types of clouds in the sky and explaining whether there is rain on the way!
Level 3 & 4s
These students have been studying force, including contact and non-contact force. This week we have been experimenting with magnets and static charge.
Level 5 & 6s
Our senior students have been learning about animal adaptations. Our focus has been on structural and behavioural adaptations. Our students are starting to think about the anima that they will create out of plasticine. This creature lives in an environment within our school grounds and should have 6 justifiable adaptations.
