We would like to congratulate all Level 5 students on another year of completed NAPLAN! It wasn't without some technical difficulties, but the student persevered through the 4 assessments with focus and determination!

Maths

Rounding off our NAPLAN preperation, student continued to complete tasks and activities through all areas of the Mathematics curriculum, ensuring we touched on all areas of need before the Maths NAPLAN. Students are using Mathletics, 99Math and 100 seocnds times table challenge on their laptops to help fine tune their Level 4 knowledge in preperation for the Level 5 topics and content to come throughout the year

Reading

During Week 7 we focussed on familiarising ourselves with the online format of NAPLAN, reading online and completing questions. In Week 8 we have returned to our study of War Horse.  The students have used the reading strategies Visualising, Questioning and Inferring to interpret the actions and emotions of characters, and to make sense of what is happening in the book.  The historical context has promoted conversations about WWI, which is timely in the lead up to ANZAC Day.

Writing

Week 7 and 8 saw our students consolidate their knowledge of Narrative and Persuasive style writing. They planned, brainstormed and wrote an array of different forms of writing in preperation for NAPLAN. After the conclusion on NAPLAN in Week 8, students are now shifting back into breaking down passages from our cohort mentor text War Horse
