Foundation News 

In Foundation, we have been exploring carefully selected storybooks to develop oral language and reading comprehension skills. This is an essential component of our daily InitiaLit program. These books are fun to read and discuss but they also incorporate rich vocabulary, helping us to learn and use interesting words such as 'yanked', 'gasp' and 'screech'.

These stories have inspired some creative art work that is currently decorating our classrooms. Here are some of the bears, stars and shells that the Foundation students have cut, glued, decorated and painted.

 

The Foundation students have also been learning how to 'fill a bucket' through acts of kindness and respect. When we are kind to others we fill their invisible bucket and our own bucket. It has been wonderful to see lots of 'bucket fillers' at school, showing kindness and respect to students and staff. These are the 2 books that we have read to introduce this fantastic concept in each of our Foundation classrooms.
