Stage 2

A message from Stage 2

Welcome to Stage 2, 2025. We are excited to work with you and your child this year.

Introducing our teachers

Our teachers on Stage 2 this year are Elliot Chapman, Ben Laurie, Lyn Burgess, Sarah Pryce, Amanda Swain and Chantelle Lawrence. Mebby Walker will be teaching PE, Bec O’Hara and Anna-Maree Paul will be teaching ICT, Michelle Porter will be teaching music and Tabatha Wain will be in the Library. Together we bring a wealth of knowledge.

We are excited to welcome our new Stage 2 students this year. Our dedicated teachers are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, growth, and memorable experiences with all our students.

Stage 2 Camp - Lake Keepit

Stage 2 recently embarked on an overnight excursion to Lake Keepit, where students had the opportunity to strengthen friendships, build teamwork skills, and challenge themselves in new ways. The camp experience included a range of engaging activities such as archery, bike riding, an obstacle course, and canoeing. Whether navigating the waters in a canoe or testing their precision in archery, students displayed great resilience and enthusiasm. It was a fantastic opportunity for personal growth and team bonding, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts!

Mathematics

This term, Stage 2 students have been focusing on key mathematical concepts, starting with whole numbers and moving into addition and subtraction. Students have been exploring number patterns, place value, and efficient mental strategies to solve problems.

English

In English, we are diving into the world of narrative writing. Students have been developing their storytelling skills by creating engaging characters, settings, and plots. As part of our reading program, we are exploring The Thing About Oliver, a thought provoking novel that encourages discussion about empathy, resilience, and personal challenges.

History - First Contacts

Our History unit, First Contacts, takes students back to the 18th century to explore life in Britain before European settlement in Australia. Students are learning about key historical figures, the reasons behind exploration and colonisation, and the impact these events had on different communities.

Athletics with Mr. Jay Stone

We are privileged to have had Mr. Jay Stone, a highly accomplished athlete who has represented Australia on the world stage, working with our Stage 2 students. Mr. Stone has been teaching fundamental skills across a range of athletic disciplines, helping students refine their techniques and build confidence in their physical abilities.

Science - Exploring Living Things

Our Science lessons this term focus on the topic of Living Things. Students are investigating what makes something alive, the characteristics of different species, and how living organisms interact with their environment.
