A message from Stage 1
Stage 1 students have settled into the new year quickly and extremely well. It has been lovely to witness students' enthusiasm and excitement for learning.
We are committed to fostering a positive learning environment where every child can grow and succeed. Last week, Stage 1 held parent and teacher interviews, and we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our parents and carers for their continued support and involvement in their children's education.
This term in writing, Stage 1 students are learning that descriptive texts can be both informative and imaginative. They are exploring the use of facts and opinions while developing their skills in constructing simple and compound sentences. Students are also discovering that effective writers use their five senses to vividly describe people, places, and objects.
Learning Intentions:
Success Criteria:
Stage 1 differentiated math's groups began last week. Over the next few weeks, teachers will focus on enhancing students' understanding of numbers and counting. Students will engage in activities that promote number recognition, sequencing, and the concepts of addition and subtraction through hands-on experiences and practical applications.
Additionally, students will explore measurement and geometry, learning to identify and describe the attributes of shapes, as well as understand the concepts of length and area. They will participate in activities that encourage them to compare sizes and shapes, using both informal and formal units of measurement.
The learning over the coming weeks aims to build a strong foundation in mathematical concepts while fostering curiosity and problem-solving skills in our Stage 1 students.
We look forward to an enriching and successful year ahead, filled with curiosity, learning, and growth for all our Stage 1 students. Thank you for your continued support and collaboration.
