Skodel ‘Wellbeing’ Check-Ins Stages 3-6

As part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing at St Luke’s, we will be continuing to use the wellbeing app, Skodel, with our SOL/E students. These wellbeing check-ins offer us a simple and engaging way to check in with students each week to see how they are feeling. We have been using Skodel since 2021 with our Years 5-12 students and it has provided us with a wealth of information to support the individual needs of our young people.

Ecah week, students will complete the quick and engaging check-in that asks them to select emoticons and tags that answer the following questions:

How are you feeling today?

Why are you feeling this way?

A third question asks the students “Is there anything you would like the teacher to know about you that they currently don’t?” We have the flexibility to change this question to target specific areas.

Your child’s classroom teacher (Year 5 and 6) or mentor teacher (Years 7-12) will monitor these check-ins which will offer them another insight into the wellbeing of their students.

Peer Companions

During Term 1 students from Year 5 will continue to be involved in the Peer Companion Program led by our Year 8 leaders. Every few weeks, groups of students will meet with 2 Peer Companions and work through a range of activities that focus on resilience. Meeting in small groups allows meaningful connections to form, assisting students with the transition to Year 6 and secondary school. Students will acknowledge their strengths and achievements, identify people who support them and learn how to view challenges as opportunity for growth.

Be an eSafe kid: Truth or Trap? [YR 5/6]

The webinar is designed to help Year 5 and 6 students investigate fake information and fake friendships online. Students will develop critical thinking skills to identify misinformation, disinformation and fake online identities like impersonator and catfishing accounts. They will also learn how to stay safe and where to get help and support.
