Deputy Principal's Report

Hello!
Harmony Day
This year, we will be celebrating Harmony Day on Friday, March 28th. It's a special opportunity to recognise and celebrate the diverse cultural backgrounds within our school community. Students are encouraged to dress in an outfit that represents their cultural heritage or wear orange, the official colour of Harmony Day, symbolising inclusivity and respect. Students will begin the day with a whole school assembly and parade in the hall straight after the bell. All families are welcome to join us and we look forward to this celebration filled with learning, storytelling, and sharing the many cultures that make our school community so special.
Social Emotional Learning
Students from Year 2 to Year 6 participate in regular morning wellbeing check-ins through a program called Ripple. Completed first thing in the morning, these check-ins provide our students with time to express their needs and provide teachers with valuable insights to support student wellbeing.
Throughout Term 1, our biggest strengths have been that students feel safe, connected, and well. However, a common challenge has emerged—many students are expressing that they often feel tired and hungry, which is impacting their focus in class.
To support your child, we encourage families to establish consistent bedtime routines, limit screen time and device use before bed to promote better sleep, and ensure children have a nutritious breakfast each morning. Packing healthy snacks and a balanced lunch can also help maintain energy levels throughout the day.
Together, we can continue to foster a positive and supportive learning environment for all our students.
NAPLAN - Over and Out!
A huge congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 5 students for completing NAPLAN! We are incredibly proud of the focus, perseverance, and positive attitude our students demonstrated throughout the testing period. We also acknowledge the support of our dedicated teachers and families in preparing and encouraging our students.
Well done, everyone!
Parent-Teacher Interviews
As we look ahead, our upcoming Parent-Teacher Interviews provide a great opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school. These conversations are essential in ensuring that we are working together to support each child’s learning and wellbeing. We encourage all families to book a time to meet with their child’s teacher, reflect on progress, discuss any areas for further development, and celebrate achievements. If you have not made a booking yet, please do so HERE. We look forward to seeing you and continuing our shared commitment to your child’s education.
ANZAC Day Dawn Service Invitation
We warmly invite all students, families and community members to join us in commemorating ANZAC Day at the Hampton RSL on Friday 25th of April. The Dawn Service is a special opportunity to come together in remembrance and gratitude for the service and sacrifice of our veterans. Attendees are encouraged to start arriving from 5:30am, with the service commencing at approximately 5:50am. As part of the ceremony, two of our wonderful student leaders will have the honour of laying a wreath on behalf of our school community. We hope to see you there as we pay our respects and reflect on the spirit of the ANZACs.
Thank you and Farewell
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Claudia Favorito, one of our valued Learning Support Officers, who has recently left St Finbar’s to focus on her studies as she works towards becoming a teacher. Claudia has been a wonderful support to both students and staff, and we wish her all the best on her journey to the classroom.
