The Year 6 students have continued their settled start to the year! Take a look below at some of the exciting news and events we are taking part in:
This is taking place for all Year 3 - 6 students next Wednesday, 5th of March. Please ensure your child packs an appropriate snack and lunch for the day, as well as sunscreen for adequate protection from the sun.
The Year 6 students were so excited this week to meet Dave, the coordinator from their school camp The Ranch. Dave spoke to the children about goals they might like to set for camp and how they might be able to use their time at camp to grow and develop.
Year 6 camp is taking place from Wednesday, 12th of March to Friday, 14th of March.
All medications for students attending camp must be handed into Di Burchell by Friday 7th March. Parents are asked to do this directly, not the students, so that Di can ensure all details are correct and details are included. Medications must be in the original packaging and placed in a snap lock bag with clear instructions regarding dosage, times to be given and the student's name clearly written. This also applies to travel sickness tablets. Preventative asthma medication can be handed in first thing in the morning on Wednesday 12th March. We cannot have parents bringing all other medications on the day we leave camp because it takes a long time to go through all the meditations and this will affect our departure time, therefore we ask they are brought in next week.
We thank you for your cooperation.
All students at Vermont Primary School will celebrate Harmony Day this year on Thursday, 20th March. The day is always a colourful celebration of the rich diversity of cultures that exist at school. Please see the attached flyer below for further information.
The school will again be presenting an information night this year for parents who speak English as an additional language. It will be taking place on Thursday, 6th March from 6.30pm - 8pm in the school staff room. The event is always an engaging way to learn more about how families who speak English as an additional language can best support their child's English language development. Please fill in the following form if you are interested in attending:
The Year 6 students investigated a range of whole number properties such as factors and multiples and whether or not particular numbers could be classified as prime, composite, square, triangular, rectangular or a combination of these.
Part of the challenge for students was to categorise their information using a logical method of their own choosing.
Some examples from 6GP are below:
Maths - Using multiplicative thinking in problem solving and by identifying number properties.
Literacy - Making deeper text to self connections & explaining how language choices affect our personal responses to texts.
Writing - Word Choice trait (specificity and figurative language).
Inquiry - Continuing iTime project research.
Science - Testing different conductors and insulators on electrical circuits
Wellbeing - Friendology Friendship Facts
