Year 3
Hsien Tran (Team Leader), Lisa Shoebridge, Michelle Guye, Louise Jarvis and Bronwyn Moore
We are at the half way point of the term, the students have settled well into their classroom routines and there has been a lot of exciting learning occurring! The term will be extremely busy for the remaining five weeks with some exciting whole school activities and classroom learning!
Important Dates:
HARMONY DAY
Thursday 20th March 2025
This year’s theme for Harmony Day is:
‘Everyone Belongs’
Did you know, that over 60% of students at Vermont Primary School speak more than one language? In honour of this, we will be holding a special assembly on Thursday 20th March at 9:10am in the stadium to celebrate the many diverse cultures we have at Vermont Primary School. This assembly will commemorate Harmony Day by showcasing a number of exciting performances, such as music, dance and a variety of demonstrations.
On this day, we invite students to dress up in clothes from either their own, or another culture, or they might choose to wear ORANGE, which is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.
Parents and Literacy Night
Thursday 6th March, 6:30pm
Each year at Vermont Primary School, we offer a special information night for parents who have English as an additional language. This session is always highly engaging and provides important information to help families navigate school life.
There will also be time to ask questions about school events, terminology, or programs at VPS. This is a great opportunity to clarify anything you are unsure about. This session is open to all families and will be held in the Vermont Primary School Staff Room on Thursday 6th March from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. To help us plan for the evening, please fill in the digital form at the link below.
If you have any questions, please contact Dianna Fuller, John Hoskin or Jacci Strachan.
House Athletics
Wednesday 5th March
House Athletics is being held on Wednesday 5th March. Permission form and payment can be found on Compass. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in a range of different sports and experiences.
Students will be asked to bring a small backpack with their snack and lunch, their school hat and a water bottle. There is no need to bring anything else to school on this day.
Students are allowed to wear their house colours - however, school uniform rules still apply in that they need to be wearing appropriate shoes, and have shoulders covered.
If you can find a spare few minutes, and a keen athlete, perhaps you could organise some running or jumping practice at home before the Athletics day!
Colour Run
Friday 21st March
We are so excited to announce that we are holding our annual Colour Run this term on Friday March 21. This event has been run for the past couple of years and has become a much-loved part of the school calendar. As well as being a fabulous day of colour and fun for students and staff, it is our major fundraiser for the year.
This year, we are hoping to raise funds to install a semi-permanent space outside the Stadium to be used as a 'sensory pod'. We envisage this being a small room/class space to be used by students requiring additional support and intervention, allied health sessions and time with the Learning Inclusion and Support Team. As a school funded project, we predict that this will cost around $50,000 and we would love to be able to use some school raised funds to make it happen.
Details of how you can get involved in fundraising are below!
