Sound Sonics Incursion

During this session students were able to learn more about recording, producing and mixing. Not only was it a great experience for the music students of CSC to work collaboratively and creatively with an experienced sound engineer but we also learnt how to use a push pad - to create beats with sounds that we went out and recorded ourselves, sourcing sounds from our surroundings, ones that wouldn't typically be used in music. A highlight was the recording of Jason using a drill to repair a lock. The samples were shared amongst the participant along with pre-loaded loops for us to mix with our wide spectrum of sounds. The outcome was a contrasting mix of tracks - some relaxing, some dance tracks. It was cool to hear what everyone’s interpretation was.  The instructor / sound engineer Henry was not only incredibly kind and enthusiastic, but also very helpful to find different ways to adjust dynamics, create mood and use the equipment and Ableton DAW successfully. He made the experience both enjoyable and interesting. We all loved it! - Birri Brown- Performing Arts Leader

Henry shared that he was really impressed with our students and our music program. In his experience, most students didn’t pick up the sound production skills as quickly as our students were able to and that the students were lucky to have such a strong music program to work with.
