International Women’s Day – ‘March Forward’

We prepared a display for International Women’s Day (IWD). Students and staff were encouraged to visit and explore the information and books on display.

It was wonderful seeing the library being used for such an event and listening to the inspiring stories of our past students and leadership goals of our current student leaders.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge – ‘20 Years of Words and Wonder’

Students in Years 7 to 12 are invited to participate in this year's Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge (3rd March to 5th September 2025).

EAL classes will compete for a whole class prize for the greatest number of books read combined. We’ll also have a celebration for those involved at the end of Term 3 with certificates, bookmarks, badges, and book prizes.

YABBA – Recommendation time

Students from Years 7 to 9 were invited to recommend their favourite Australian authors’ books for this year’s YABBA (Young Australians Best Book Awards) shortlist.

Students could select up to four books in any category as long as the book has not been a winner in the past 10 years and was first published within the past 10 years.

Credits were issued for participation.

We have a large collection of Australian author books through our previous YABBA and CBCA Book Week promotions, and Lamont Standing Orders (teen literature selected by expert booksellers).

Nomination slips and further information can be found on our YABBA display. Nominations close on Friday 4th of April.   https://yabba.org.au/

Shout Out Book of the Week!

Students can promote their favourite book via a book review, photo, short video, drawing, or another creative form (drama). Staff are most welcome to join in too!

Students will receive credits for participation and staff their own personal shout outs!

Entries can be submitted to our library staff or on our CSC Library Team Shout Out Book of the Week channel.

Eleanor Gomez of 7E has inspired this initiative. Her beautiful drawing of a dragon from the Wings of Fire series written by Tui T. Sutherland has captured the attention of our young readers.

Marcus Out of 7F is currently promoting The Sword of Summer from the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series, written by Rick Riordan, for Shout Out Book of the Week.

Eleanor Gomez of 7E interviewed Marcus for his shout out reasons:

It’s the highest rated book of the series. Really good storyline. Characters have great personality. Good character development. Good writing.

Harmony Week – ‘Everyone Belongs’

Our college library is a place where everyone belongs!

No Room on Our Rock written by Kate & Jol Temple and illustrated by Terri Rose Baynton, tells a completely different story depending on the direction you read it.
