Year 7 Arts and Technology
In Food Technology our year 7 students are seen here preparing, cooking and enjoying their healthy Tacos in the outdoor dining area. It was smiles all round and they were reported as delicious!
This term in Art and Design, students have been busy developing painting and colour theory skills through still life. The original colour palettes and and expressive mark making is spectacular in these Impressionist inspired responses. They are now working on self portraiture and are manipulating the art elements to create their own unique visual language so they can convey messages and meanings in their work. Stay tuned as these fabulous works will be exhibited as part of our annual art show.
Systems and Materials Technology students have successfully completed their latest creative and functional pencil holder in the shape of a truck. This fun and practical design showcases their growing confidence with design tools and fabrication techniques. It’s been fantastic to see their ideas take shape and roll into reality!
Students in Systems and material Technology have also recently been introduced to the exciting world of laser cutting and are already putting their new skills to the test. As part of their design project, they have successfully created custom key holders, showcasing both creativity and precision. Building on this momentum, they are now diving into the next challenge — designing components for a functional light. Stay tuned as they bring their imaginative ideas to life using cutting-edge technology!
Year 8 Woodwork
After working through the full design process, from concept to creation, our Woodwork students have successfully completed their mechanical toy projects. These impressive creations highlight their problem-solving skills, creativity, and understanding of motion and mechanics. Take a look at some of their fantastic, finished pieces!
9/10 Electives
Systems and Technology students have been enthusiastically engaging in a hands-on STEM project that combines electronics and design. After successfully assembling circuits for their very own Electronic Game Units, they moved on to the creative challenge of designing custom enclosures for their devices—working within a set of specific constraints and design considerations. They are now in the exciting construction phase, bringing their ideas to life as they build the enclosures to house their game units. This project has been a fantastic opportunity for students to apply practical skills, foster creativity, and experience real-world problem-solving.
Project Runway students have been completing a design thinking cycle based around the theme of Alice and Wonderland and World Earth Day. On June 26th we will be attending the BNTS (Banyule Nullimbik Tech School) to finalise the projects using some high tech features and the professional photography suite. We are all very excited about this great opportunity after the success of our last visit.
Our Every Day Foods students have been baking and recently perfected the art of the best bagel. Students hey have also been learning about quick and easy, healthy meal solutions. They prepared breakfast foods, burgers and designed food that meets the requirements of the Go For Your Life Healthy Canteen initiative as part of their assessments over the semester.
Open Studio Ceramics, students have finalised their functional vessels based around contemporary artist Grayson Perry and learnt a lot about glazing techniques and processes along the way.
They are currently exploring sculpting portrait busts of someone who is inspirational in their life. It is lovely to see the family members and friends being used along side the celebrities as sources of inspiration for these next works.
Above you can see digital video animation and music students creating stop motion master pieces!
