Year 12 English 'Learn to Succeed' Workshop
The Year 12s were recently treated to a free workshop from 'Learning to Succeed', an English tutoring company that caters to students in Years 10 - 12. Alyssa spent 20 mins teaching us about good studying techniques, and then Jackson unpacked some ways that we could use evidence in our 'Born a Crime' essay.
Here's what the kids thought:
"It was helpful, presenters were respectful, nice, well organised and acted like they wanted to be there!"
"The presentation was helpful to learn in different ways. I t was also good how they presented in turns and showed strategies on how to study. Very nice presenters. There could have been more breaks, but it was very engaging!"

A Moving Visit to the Holocaust Museum
Last week, our Year 11 History students, along with the entire Year 10 cohort, had the opportunity to engage in an unforgettable excursion to the Melbourne Holocaust Museum. This powerful and thought-provoking experience allowed students to deepen their understanding of a key moment in history through first-hand stories, artefacts, and guided exploration.
One of the highlights of the day was the privilege of meeting Paul Grinwald, a Holocaust survivor. Hearing his personal story left a lasting impact on many students. “Meeting Paul was pretty cool,” said Chase, while another student shared, “I learnt so much and it was really nice to be inspired by the survivor’s bravery.”
Inside the museum, students examined authentic historical items and displays, including a detailed diorama of a concentration camp. “The best bit of the museum was the concentration camp diorama and seeing all the different details,” said Ruby. Jess added, “I enjoyed hearing people’s stories,” a sentiment echoed by many.
After the museum visit, the group took a short walk to a nearby restaurant, ‘Budapest’, where they were warmly welcomed by David, whose parents and grandparents were Holocaust survivors. Here, the learning continued through conversation, while students also enjoyed a cultural feast. The Hungarian goulash, chicken schnitzel, apple strudel, and chocolate crepes were a hit! As one student put it, “That was the best chicken schnitzel of my life!” while another student claimed, “The apple strudel was so good!”
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Warrandyte Rotary Club for their generous support in helping fund this enriching and deeply meaningful excursion.
