2025 QGSSSA Cross Country Championships

The 2025 QGSSSA Cross Country Championships are fast approaching, and our Cross Country runners are ready to take on the challenge.
After months of committed training, early morning sessions, and relentless effort, our student runners are set to showcase their team spirit. We encourage the entire Clayfield College community to rally behind our runners and support them as they go head-to-head with the best in the QGSSSA.
Spectators
As part of our commitment to school spirit and inter-school sport, all Secondary students are encouraged to attend. This is a key opportunity to contribute to our vibrant community culture and support your peers.
House Spirit Bonus
One house point will be awarded to every student in attendance, adding to the tally toward the 2025 Champion House.
Spectator Giveaway
All attending students will go into the draw to win the Spectator Prize Pack. Bring your spirit and you might take home the prize.
Transport
Clayfield College will provide return transport to John Paul College.
- Departure: Bayview Terrace at 7:30am
- Return: Approx. 12:30pm
Please bring morning tea and a water bottle. Boarders will be provided with food and refreshments.
Uniform
Spectators must wear full winter uniform, including blazer and hat.

Andrews Cup Cross Country Competition
Our Andrews Cup Cross Country team will be competing in their annual event on Monday 12 May at Limestone Park. Please find key details below:
Event Details
Date: Monday 12 May
Time: 10:00am to 12:45pm
Venue: Limestone Park, 42 Chermside Road, Ipswich
Race Schedule
- 10:00am: 12 Years (3km)
- 10:25am: 11 Years (3km)
- 10:50am: 8 Years and Under (1km)
- 11:05am: 9 Years (1.5km)
- 11:35am: 10 Years (2km)
- 12:05pm: Noel McBride Cup Relay (3km, selected students only)
Arrival and Roll Marking
All participants are required to meet at the Tuckshop area by 7:00am sharp for roll marking.
Departure
If parents wish to take their child home from the venue, they must sign them out with a staff member before departing.
We are looking forward to a fantastic day of racing and school spirit!
Andrews Cup Netball Metro Meet
Somerville House will host the upcoming Andrews Cup Netball Metro Meet. Please see event information below:
Event Details
Date: Thursday 15 May
Time: 4:15pm to 5:40pm
Venue: Downey Park Netball Association, Windsor
Transport
A bus will depart from Bayview Terrace at 3:30pm. Students are to meet Miss Lewin immediately after school at the Tuckshop area.
Uniform
Students should wear their netball dress with either a Clayfield tracksuit top or Representative shirt over the top.
Return Travel
A return bus will bring students back to school with an expected arrival of 6:10pm. Parents may alternatively collect their child from the venue but must sign them out with a staff member.
Action Required
Please ensure the attendance MS Form sent by Miss Amy Lewin has been completed.
Highlights
Cross Country Contenders Step Up at District Trials
Clayfield College athletes were out in force at the recent City District Cross Country Trials, with a strong group showcasing grit and endurance against tough competition.
Standout performances came from Charlize Gri and Lainey Madders, who both earned selection onto the City Districts representative team a reward for their consistent effort. Also representing Clayfield with pride were Ava Spizzirri, Harper Horwood, Hayden Churchyard, Lincoln Retief, Matthew Devia, Thomas Clarke, and Willow Reid, all of whom gave impressive efforts on the day.
With depth and determination in the squad, Clayfield’s Cross Country future is in capable hands.
