Do It for Dolly Day – A Day of Kindness and Reflection
On May 9th, our Wellbeing Committee captains Ava and Athena led our school to participate in Do It for Dolly Day, a national event dedicated to raising awareness about bullying and promoting kindness. This important day is held in memory of Dolly Everett, a 14-year-old girl who tragically took her own life after enduring bullying and cyberbullying.
Throughout the day, students wore blue ribbons as a symbol of support for Dolly’s Dream and the movement to create a more compassionate world. These ribbons served as a powerful reminder of the need for kindness, empathy, and understanding, both in our school community and beyond.
During Friday lunchtime, students gathered in the LRC to decorate butterflies, a symbol of Dolly’s Dream, to see a world filled with love and empathy. The butterflies will be displayed around the school as a lasting reminder of the positive change we can all create by standing up for one another.
Kindness messages were also shared around the school, helping to create meaningful connections among the students and spread kindness. The day was a meaningful opportunity for everyone to reflect on the importance of kindness, to support those who maybe struggling, and to take action in making our school and community a safer, more inclusive place for all.
