PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MRS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL

Currently, our school is celebrating various curriculum areas through dedicated Week activities. Last week was Humanities Week, this week we have observed Health and Physical Education (HAPE) Week, and next week will focus on Arts and Technology Week. The members of these curriculum teams have organised a variety of engaging activities, including quizzes in Homeroom, outdoor activities in the yard and Learning Resource Centre, and additional opportunities for students to explore these subject areas. We commend the staff and students involved in planning and participation.

We also extend our appreciation to the Year 10 Peer Support classes for their efforts during Transition Days for our incoming Grade 6 students. Additionally, our Year 12 VCE Vocational Major students have commenced organising events such as Open Mic performances and preparing breakfast for staff members, with more initiatives to come.

The week beginning 26th May marks Catholic Education Week in the Ballarat Diocese. During this time, we celebrate our Catholic Identity as a community, including participation in a Mass with St Mary’s Primary School. The Catholic Education Swan Hill (CESH) Mass will be held on Friday, 30th May at 12:00 pm in the Jubilee Centre. Following the Mass, a shared BBQ lunch will be available to staff and students.

Throughout this week, we will also highlight the achievements of our students and showcase our school through our Open Day and Subject Expo. Prospective and current families are invited to join guided tours starting at 2:30 pm or attend informational sessions. At 5:45 pm, Damien Hirst will present information to parents of Year 7 2026 students. Subsequent sessions for Year 9 and 10 2026 students will be facilitated by Nathan Lane at 6:30 pm, followed by the Year 11 and 12 2026 sessions at 7:15 pm. The Subject Expo will be open from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, welcoming prospective students and their families.

To participate in a tour, please contact the school Front Office at 50329771.

This week, we shared on social media about the acquisition of a new tractor for our upcoming school site. This prompted me to provide an update on our Master Plan. On Tuesday, 20th May, the Development Plan for our school site will be presented for approval at the Swan Hill Rural City Council Ordinary Meeting. Once approved, we will proceed with planning permits and then tender for Stage 1 of the Master Plan. This initial stage includes constructing roads, parking facilities, and utilities, as well as developing two large water retention areas—one situated under the proposed car park. The first building to be developed on the new site will be a Technology and Science facility. I will share further details and design plans in upcoming newsletters.
