Art Room & Kitchen Garden Program

Now that the buildings works have finished and we are back into the Art Room and Kitchen  Dining Room, we are looking ahead and planning out projects for the rest of the year.

Art Room update

We have an exciting upcoming art project which includes collage and need your help!

Newspapers and Magazines

We are collecting old magazines and newspapers for our students to use in their creative projects. If you have any gently used magazines (child friendly with good images) or newspapers at home that you no longer need, we would love to turn them into art.

These materials will provide a wonderful variety of colours, textures, and images for our young artists to explore. Donations can be taken into your child’s classroom or dropped off at the front office for Chantel.

Call for Old Suit Jackets – Year 6 Art Project

We are seeking donations of old suit jackets for an exciting upcoming art project with our Year 6 students. As part of their creative exploration, students will be transforming these jackets with paint and embellishments to express their individuality and artistic flair. If you have any clean suit jackets at home that you were planning to donate or throw away, we would greatly appreciate you sending them in. Year 6 students are welcome to bring their own jacket (labelled with their name) to decorate or anyone across the school community can contribute one for others to use.

Thank you!

Kitchen Garden News

With the start of term two and the end of the building project, we are thrilled to be back in the kitchen dining room for our Year 3&4 kitchen garden program!

This will allow us to return to a full kitchen program, offering students the opportunity to use the produce from our school garden to experience pleasurable food experiences - planting, tending, harvesting, preparing, cooking and, most importantly eating together.

The missing ingredient is you - having plenty of parents, grandparents, relatives and friend volunteers allow us to run more ambitious sessions with small groups taking on different recipes in the kitchen or activities in the garden.

This term kitchen and garden sessions will be taking place on a Monday. Each Year 3/4 class will have two kitchen sessions and two garden sessions between now and the end of term.

We would love you to visit our volunteer roster to check out when your child's class will be participating in sessions and, if possible, sign up to help out. Feel free to share this link with grandparents or other relatives who may be available on a Monday.

Note: Please remember, all volunteers must have a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC). Simply provide your WWCC to the school office before signing in for your volunteer session. If you do not yet have a WWCC, visit  http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/ to apply for a free volunteer check.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact us.
