Visiting other schools
SKiPPS Literacy Team Visit to Brandon Park Primary School
On Tuesday, seven members of the SKiPPS Literacy Team visited Brandon Park Primary School to further deepen our professional expertise. Brandon Park is nationally recognised for its use of an explicit instructional model—an approach they adopted long before it became widely implemented across schools. Their commitment to excellence has led them to open their classrooms to educators from other schools seeking to learn from their high-impact teaching practices.
The opportunity to observe teaching in action at another school is one our staff deeply value. At Brandon Park, we were able to see the instructional strategies that we are embedding at SKiPPS, delivered by educators with remarkable skill and precision. Witnessing this level of instructional mastery not only affirmed the work we’re doing, but also sparked rich, reflective discussions among our team on how to further refine our practice.
We returned to SKiPPS feeling incredibly proud. Our teachers are already delivering the new PhOrMeS curriculum with a high degree of consistency and expertise, and it was clear that our work is on par with leading practice. This visit was a powerful reminder that the professionalism and dedication of our staff is truly paying off—for both our team and our students.
Spreading Joy to Sacred Heart Community
It’s Pen Pal time again! Our friends at the Sacred Heart Community have reached out to request a new batch of letters from our students. The letters they received last term brought immense joy to their residents, who are eager to write back, share their stories, and continue building meaningful connections with the SKiPPS community.
We warmly encourage all families to help their child write a short, cheerful letter addressed to “Dear Pen Pal,” to brighten someone’s day.
If your child wrote a letter last term, please check in with me to let me know. As we only received a small number of letters previously, those will be included in this new round of responses.
Thank you for helping us spread kindness and connection across generations.
