Week 3, Term 2
Prep
Students will finish off their rainbow artwork as well as their Anna Blatman inspired ‘Field of Flowers’ painting, focussing on round and straight lines.
Grade 1
Students will be finishing off their Mother’s Day present focussing on bubble cutting and arranging their ‘posy’ of flowers ready to take home and gift to a special person.
Grade 2
Students will be finishing a Pete Cromer inspired painted paper collage of a mother hen and her eggs for a special gift, focussing on shapes and details as well as layering different colours and textures.
Grade 3 and 4
Students will be finishing their pipe-cleaner flowers and sewing together their cardboard vase ready to take home as a special gift.
Grade 5
Students will be cutting their painted leather into shapes and attaching jump rings between them to create earrings or a keychain for someone special.
Grade 6
Students will be finishing off their tonal shell drawing and beginning to research a notable Australian for a textiles project beginning next week.
Prep
Students will be exploring beat patterns through body percussion, percussion instruments and movement. They will listen to First Nations music, paying particular attention to clapping sticks, to inspire their learning. Students will read pictorial notations of beat patterns to play rhythms.
Grade 1
Students are continuing to explore pitch through their voice, movement, listening and playing glockenspiels. They will notate sounds they hear using 'pitch maps' and play/sing new 'pitch maps' they are introduced to. Pitch maps are an informal and graphical way to notate the way sounds move up and down.
Grade 2
Students are continuing to explore melody through singing and playing tuned percussion instruments. They will continue to develop their composition skills as they work on creating a two note ostinato melody.
Grade 3 and 4
Students are learning about the idea of 'feel' in music. They will continue to explore 'Funk' music through listening, singing and moving. Students will learn about syncopation as they play and experience 'Funk' rhythms.
Grade 5 and 6
Students are continuing to learn about song writing. They will learn about song structures in modern pop music before writing lyrics to a chord progression.
Prep
Prep students will be introduced to the signs for numbers 6 through to 10 and complete a ‘colour by number’ activity to consolidate their understanding.
Grade 1 and 2
Grade 1 and 2 students will continue to explore and use the signs for pets in simple sentences. They will sign their pet’s name and sign simple descriptions of their pet or favourite animal.
Grade 3 and 4
Grade 3 and 4 students will review location signs for top, middle, bottom, left and right. In addition to these signs, students will use their knowledge of shape and colour signs to follow basic instructions in Auslan re-create a simple picture.
Grade 5 and 6
Grade 5 and 6 students will continue to consolidate their knowledge and application of signs that describe people by playing 'Celebrity Heads' and through creating a ‘Who Am I?’ presentation for a partner.
