Headphones
If your child has headphones that connect to their iPad, it would be great if you could have a clear label with their name on them and bring them to school each day. This will assist with when using iPads, recording our voice and completing tasks on Nessy, Mathseeds or Mathletics.

📚 Phonemic awareness: reading and phonics

Grade One Students
Grade One's will continue learning about diagraphs focusing on 'nk' and revising all taught diagraphs.

📖✏️Literacy
Mentor Text: Up a rainforest Tree
Students will be looking at this book to explore non fiction texts. We will be learning how to identify features of a non-fiction book, how the headings and subheadings help us and how we can understand the vocabulary.
What can you do at home?
-Chat and notice any interesting nouns and adjectives around you.
-Ask when looking at stories if the story is fiction or non fiction and why.
-Ask comprehension questions about your child's take home book or a book you read together
➕Maths
Grade One students will be building their number fluency and partition numbers in a variety of ways using concrete materials and recording their findings.
Grade Two will be working on their number fluency when adding and subtracting numbers. They also will be working with concrete materials and record their findings.
What can you do at home?
-Continue to skip count by 2s, 5s and 10 orally when counting objects
-Compare different numbers - which is bigger or smaller? How do you know?
-Engage with mathseeds (Grade One) or matheletics (Grade Two)
🌏 CBL - Diversity
Students will discuss with their peers what they know about different celebrations. They will make connections between themselves and others. We will also explore the ways we celebrate within our school community.
