Careers

Athena Aligizakis

This term is a busy one for the Careers Office with Year 10 students about to go out to work experience from 12-16 May and Year 9 students conducting Morrisby Profiling.   This term we will also start to schedule and conduct individual career counselling with Year 12's; this activity continues through to Term 3 as we have a larger cohort this year.  More on all of this below with a smattering of careers events to help you to decide on your first career move.    Any questions?  Just let me know. Parents are also welcome to call any time.

YEAR 9

MORRISBY PROFILING

Each year our school participates in the Morrisby Profile activity. So, what is Morrisby? The Morrisby Profile is here to help your child find their true career direction using scientific profiling of abilities, personality, interests and motivation to help them discover their own unique characteristics.   With this awareness, they can ensure they are able to make the right choices when it comes to options at ages 16 and 18, local college or higher education courses and apprenticeships, plus lots of information on the careers that we feel they would be best suited to.   Parents will receive consent forms via Compass in order for students to complete the full profile.   Students will then complete their profile during SELF classes on 26 and 28 May 2025.   If you have any questions about Morrisby, please do not hesitate to contact Ms Aligizakis in Careers.

INDIVIDUAL CAREER COUNSELLING APPOINTMENTS

Towards the beginning of June right through to approximately August, all Year 12's will be offered an individual counselling session with a careers practitioner. Where possible this appointment will be arranged during a SELF or study period.   Please remember to attend as there will be limited availability to reschedule these appointments. If your appointment is during a time you know you will be away in advance, please let Ms Aligizakis know as soon as possible.   This is your opportunity to ask us questions but also for us to provide you with information regarding your chosen pathway post Year 12.   Please come prepared to the meeting with your questions, so we can help you find your pathway post Year 12 and how you’re going to navigate your way there. And if you’re not sure what you want to do next, we can chat about lots of other options for you too.

STUDENTS WHO WANT TO STUDY MEDICINE, DENTISTRY AND CLINICAL SCIENCE – UCAT TESTING

Students who are planning to apply to Medicine, Dentistry and Clinical Science degree programmes commencing in 2026 at these universities in Australia and New Zealand must sit the UCAT ANZ 2025.    The UCAT ANZ is a computer-based, multiple choice test. Candidates sit the test at Pearson VUE test centres located in Australia, New Zealand and at many overseas locations. For information about where test centres are offered, see Test Centre Locations.     Testing is held from 1 July – 5 August 2025.

Eligibility

UCAT ANZ is only available to a candidate who is undertaking or has completed the final year of secondary school, or higher.   For example, candidates registering for UCAT ANZ 2025 should have completed, or plan to complete their final year of secondary schooling in 2025 (Year 12 in Australia or Year 13 in New Zealand).    Students in Australian Year 11 or lower are not eligible to sit the UCAT ANZ. This includes Year 11 students undertaking one or more Year 12 subjects. Year 12 students completing Year 12 over two years are only eligible to sit the UCAT ANZ in their final year.  Some UCAT ANZ Consortium universities require international students to sit UCAT ANZ.  Candidates are advised to check the university websites for further information.

Booking dates and deadlines

Bookings are open on the UCAT ANZ website and will close on Friday 16 May 2025 at 11:59pm AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time).     Late booking deadlines and other key dates are on the UCAT ANZ Test Cycle page. We do not make exceptions to these deadlines.    The 2025 UCAT ANZ must be sat between 1 July and 5 August 2025.

Please note the following important information:

2025 Test Format

In 2025, the Abstract Reasoning subtest will be withdrawn from the test. The new test format will comprise three cognitive subtests (Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning) and the Situational Judgement subtest. More information is given on our website here

Preparation Resources

Free official Preparation Resources are available on the UCAT ANZ website.

Note that the UCAT ANZ Consortium does not work with or endorse any commercial preparation providers offering UCAT ANZ preparation. We strongly advise candidates to use the free official practice materials on our website and to be cautious about using materials and courses from other providers.

Validity of Results

UCAT ANZ 2025 results are valid for the 2025 university admissions cycle ONLY (for entry to university in 2026).
