Grade 6 

Year 6s have started Literacy and Maths using Ochre Education, which is a part of Magnify Sandhurst.

In Literacy, we have been reading the novel The Ghost in My Suitcase by Gabrielle Wang. Our class is enjoying reading about the main character, Celeste and her adventures in Shanghai with her grandmother. Students have completed activities of spelling, vocabulary and sentence structure that relate to the text. Our writing focus has been on Persuasive texts and we are looking at the topic 'Why should we learn about our family history?' We have begun learning about the correct structure of an introductory paragraph for a persuasive text.

In Maths, our first unit is Statistics with a focus on Data Representation. So far, we have analysed and constructed column graphs, bar charts and line graphs. Students have been working to use the correct elements of a graph to ensure they are neat and easily readable.
