Welcome to Our New Faculty Members!
The Technology Learning Area is excited to welcome Ms Danaj to the team at Glen Eira College. Ms Danaj will be teaching Year 7 to Year 9 classes, bringing her expertise and enthusiasm to younger students as they begin their journey into Technology subjects.
Exciting Learning Opportunities from Year 7 to Year 12
At GEC, Technology covers much more than just computers. Our comprehensive curriculum includes Food Technology, System Technology, and Digital Technology.
- Year 7: Students get a taste of all Technology areas. They explore food preparation and nutrition, robotic systems and their societal roles, and foundational computer skills, including coding and safe network use.
- Year 9-10: Technology subjects become electives. Students delve deeper into their chosen areas:
- Food Technology: Designing and planning meals, exploring global cuisines, and understanding the health implications of food choices.
- Digital Technology: Advancing coding skills, game design, web development, and exploring computer hardware.
- Systems Technology: A deeper dive into robotics, including control systems and 3D printed modifications.
- Year 11-12: Specialized subjects like Applied Computing (Year11) and Software Development (Year12) prepare students for future careers.
Join Our Robotics Club!
Are you a Year 7 student interested in building, coding, and robotics? Join our Robotics Club every Wednesday after school in Room 8. You’ll have the chance to work on exciting projects, participate in competitions, and develop valuable skills. No prior experience is needed—just bring your curiosity, and some friends who share the same interests.
Important Reminder for Year 7 Food Technology Students
A reminder to all Food Technology students: please bring a reusable food container to your practical classes. This allows you to safely take home your creations while helping to minimize plastic and food waste.
