Year 11s
Welcome to all our new Year 11 students. It has been great to see the Year 11s working hard in the classroom and building relationships with their teachers and peers. If you need any guidance with your studies, please contact your class teacher in the first instance, but remember, the whole Class team are here to support you. Just a gentle reminder to ensure you have your own calculator; you will need it in lessons and for assessments.

Mathematics - Mr Miin Chao
The Mathematics Learning Area has had a fantastic start in 2025. This year, we have reverted to using the Nelson Textbook instead of Mathspace. All students enrolled in Mathematics Essentials have been issued a textbook on a one-year loan. It's essential that students bring their textbooks to class to facilitate effective learning. Additionally, it is each student's responsibility to ensure the textbooks are returned to the school in good condition. Failure to do so will result in a charge for the cost of the textbook.
All Mathematics ATAR students are required to learn how to use the ClassPad, as shown left. It is essential that students bring their ClassPads to every lesson, as we will be using them extensively throughout the year in place of normal scientific calculators. While students may still use their scientific calculators during tests and exams, becoming proficient with all the functions of the ClassPad is crucial for success in Year 11 and Year 12 Mathematics Applications. Students must practice using their ClassPads regularly.
Year 11 and Year 12 non-ATAR students must bring their own scientific calculators to every lesson. Right are two examples of a suitable scientific calculator for Year 11 and Year 12 Mathematics Essentials. While other scientific calculators are available and have been used by lower schools, not all have the necessary features for these courses. There are only a limited number of college scientific calculators available for students to borrow during class this year, and there is no guarantee that students will be issued one during assessments, particularly during the Year 12 EST this year. Please ensure that all students take care of their scientific calculators throughout the year to avoid any disadvantage during Mathematics assessments.
