Principal Notes

Welcome to 2025!

A warm welcome back to all of our families and a special welcome to our new families to Yanco Public School.  We had a wonderful start to our term with lots of smiling faces and students getting back to learning in classrooms. We welcome back our teaching and support staff, Carley Graham and Maddison Kennedy in Red K/1,  Alison Jeffs in Green 2/3/4 and Brooke Williams in Blue 5/6. Hannah Scifleet, Tarnya Grigg and Kara Kroek are providing learning support and targeted programs. Our students are supported by Susannah Grigg, Simone Hookway, Grace Holt, Brendan Condemo and Faith Kennedy. Our APC&I is Emma Hetherington. We are lucky to have such a flexible, reliable and caring team to support each student to achieve their best every day at Yanco Public School.

Meetings with teachers.

We welcome parents to contact us at any time to discuss queries or concerns. It is expected that parents wishing to discuss matters with class teachers will contact the school office to make an appointment. It is not appropriate to have parent-teacher meetings at the classroom door as teachers need to ensure their focus is on the learning and wellbeing of the students in their class. As Relieving Principal, I very much welcome parents to come in and discuss any issues, suggestions or concerns, however again, it is preferred that parents make an appointment in order to ensure adequate time to discuss matters.

The Resilience Project.

This year we are implementing a wellbeing program called The Resilience Project. This whole school wellbeing program teaches and supports positive mental health in the classroom, staffroom and wider community. This program is emotionally engaging, practical, proven to have impact through evidence-based evaluations. Attached is a flyer with some more information.

Kind regards,

Jacinta Wheeler

Relieving Principal.
