Today marked our first PSSA Gala Day. PSSA students met with their coaches in the morning for team talks, roll marking, and to travel to the venues for a fun-filled day of sports. Students who do not participate in PSSA remained at school, engaged in 'sport groups' where they enjoyed their own sports sessions. Throughout the day, these students participated in a variety of activities, including writing, maths games, growth mindset exercises, and art projects.
Congratulations to our PSSA teams on a successful first Gala Day!
Please note this year Primary Girls Australian Football is not being coordinated through Sydney North PSSA. Please refer to the flyer below for information regarding trials.
As discussed at the P&C meeting at the end of 2024, we have decided not to continue running the Year 4 camp. We believe that Year 5 and Year 6 camps provide the best opportunities for students to develop independence and resilience. At this stage, students are more mature, allowing them to gain more from the camp experience. Additionally, this decision aligns with the camp schedules of other schools in our area. Thank you for your understanding.
Expressions of interest for students in Year 6 moving into Year 7 in 2026 will open on 03 March 2025. Please see the link below that outlines the process. Although digital applications are preferred, hard copies of the EOI form will be available from the front office required.

This week, our kindergarten students have begun their Best Start Assessments with their classroom teacher.
The Best Start Kindergarten Assessment is a state-wide assessment that helps show teachers the literacy and numeracy skills of each student at the beginning of Kindergarten. This helps teachers to plan lessons to best support the learning needs of every child.
Children come to school with a range of experiences, skills and abilities. Some are familiar with books, can recognise letters of the alphabet or even write their name or count to ten, while others have not yet learned these skills.
The Best Start Kindergarten Assessment provides teachers with the opportunity to sit with a child one on one, focusing on what that child can do.
The assessment is not a test but provides teachers with useful information to help support your child’s learning at school.
The information video below provides further information on the Best Start Kindergarten Assessment. Please see the translated information sheets here.
Please contact the school if you have any questions regarding the Best Start Kindergarten Assessment.

We are excited to welcome Therapy Dog Eli back to Chatswood Public School in 2025.
Eli is a member of Guide Dogs’ NSW Therapy Dog Team and is being generously provided to our school by Guide Dogs and one of their volunteers.
Eli is a 6-year old black Labrador, fully trained as a Guide Dog and certified as a Therapy Dog. He has several years of experience with children in primary and high schools (K-12) and also works for the Department of Justice supporting victims of Domestic Violence.
He will be attending our school on Thursdays. Several staff members have already received special training in handling Eli and will be closely supervising him during his time at school.
He is a resource for all children and staff to help make their time at Chatswood Public School even more special. If you have any concerns about Eli joining us, please contact Mrs Walters via the office.
