Morning Drop Off
The Frontier Avenue Car Park is the main entry and exit point for St Luke’s Catholic College. Unless attending Ambrose or the CELC, students are required to arrive at the College between 8-8:20am each weekday. For those parents driving their children to school, they have the option of either using the designated drop off lane, or parking in the Car Park and walking their child into the school grounds.
Car Drop Off.
- Parents are to enter the grounds via the Western Entry Gate for the Frontier Avenue Car Park. (Gate 2)
- Driving slowly at 5 km/h, parents proceed to the drop off point.
- As the vehicle approaches the drop off point, children are to gather their bags and other items so they are ready to alight the vehicle. Parents are to ensure their child’s bag is close to them (not in the boot) so as to assist the drop off process.
- When the vehicle comes to a complete stop, students can alight the vehicle kerb side.
- Please Note:
- Students are not to leave via the driver’s side of the vehicle.
- Parents are to remain in the vehicle.
- Once children have cleared the vehicle, parents are to leave carefully and slowly, and at all times being acutely aware of the pedestrian crossing and other pedestrians as they leave via the exit gate.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Parents driving their children to school, and who wish to walk their children into the grounds, are required to use the Car Park. When leaving your vehicle and walking into the school grounds please use the pedestrian pathways provided and, for safety reasons, do not walk across the drive through entrance.
- There is the provision of disabled parking bays. Please only use these if you have a disabled parking permit.
- As part of our traffic management plan, and for safety reasons, there is to be no parking in Northbourne Avenue.
- Lastly, walkers are to use the pedestrian pathways adjacent to the vehicle entrance and exit gates.
Afternoon Dismissal
School concludes at 2:40pm. The Northbourne gate and Breezeway gates will be opened at 2:40pm by the teachers on duty. Parents/carers of Kindergarten, Stage 1 and Stage 2 students are to make their way to the Marketplace. Teachers will oversee a safe departure for all children. From 2:30pm, students in Stages 3, 4 and 5 will be dismissed from their classrooms and make their own way home. If they are to meet with younger siblings, they are to go to the marketplace, Car Line or Bus Bays as needed.
Bus and Walkers
- Students catching the bus assemble in the bus bays in their designated bus number zone on the Northbourne side of the College
- Walkers assemble near the bus line (Northbourne Gate) or car line (Breezeway gate) and depart when the teacher on duty opens the gates.
- Once these students depart, parents and carers will then enter the school.
Car Pick Up
- Students being picked up by car assemble in Breezeway.
- Students assemble in 2 areas: Those with surnames falling in A to K range and those in L to Z.
- Signs in carpark indicate designated areas for parent pick up.
- Parents are asked to stay in their vehicle.
- Please display a sign with your child's name in your windscreen.
- Staff will call out your child's name and direct them where to stand along the car line (eg car 1, car 2 or car 3) and assist your child to enter the vehicle on the passenger (kerb) side.
- Parents are to carefully and very slowly leave the area.
Parent Pick up - ES1, Stage 1 and 2
- Students will assemble with their teachers in the Marketplace in class groups.
- Parents collecting their children from the Marketplace enter via the breezeway and are to make their way to the Marketplace
- When a student sees their parent/carer they will raise their hand and wait for their teacher to dismiss them.
- Students that aren’t picked up straight away will wait in the Breezeway and will be supervised until 3pm. Any students remaining after this time will be taken to the office.
Ambrose
- Takes place from 2:40-6:00pm.
- Parents are to access via the Breezeway gates on the Frontier Avenue side of the school.
Reminders
- Parent’s waiting outside the Breezeway (main gates) and Northbourne gates are asked to keep to one side and not queue in front of gates, to enable students walking and those on car line to depart quickly.
- To ensure the smooth flow of traffic through the Marketplace and Breezeway please depart as soon as possible once you’ve collected your child.
- Ensure that your child/children know what bus number they catch.
- Ensure your child knows how they are getting home each day.
Bus Safety Week Feb 17 – 23
• Slow to 40km/h for bus flashing lights
• Be Bus Aware
Bus Safety Week reminds all road users to ‘Be Bus Aware’
Our school bus operator Busways is reminding all road users, parents, and students to ‘be bus aware’ as part of Transport for NSW’s Bus Safety Week campaign, running Feb 17 - 23.
Bus Safety Week, part of the ‘Be Bus Aware’ campaign, sees Governments, bus operators, and emergency services raise awareness about the importance of being safe in and around buses and spread the message to ‘Be Bus Aware’.
The initiative provides a timely reminder to parents to have a talk with their children about bus safety; to motorists when giving way to buses; to pedestrians to make sure they are alert of their surroundings; and to cyclists to ensure they can see where buses are. We all have a part to play in bus safety.
The ‘Be Bus Aware’ campaign has been developed with input from Bus NSW, NSW Police and Transport for NSW.
