Prayer

The Catholic Church celebrates Mary, the Mother of Jesus, during May as a way to honour her role as the Mother of God and the Queen of Heaven.

May is traditionally recognised as the month of Mary, a time to pay homage to her virtues of love, purity and humility. This month is a time for Catholics to deepen their devotion to Mary through prayer, praying the Rosary and other devotional practices. Mary is seen as an intercessor and a source of comfort and protection, and her special month is a reminder of her importance in the life of the Church and in the lives of individual believers. Pope Francis calls us to pray to Mary as follows:  “For all those who have no peace, let us invoke Mary, the woman who brought into the world the Prince of Peace.”  Pope Francis.
