Christian Studies News

Year 7 Christian Studies students have been studying the Gospel of Mark and what it tells us about Jesus and the ways people responded to Him. Areas of learning have included: Jesus’ miracles point ahead to God’s Kingdom, Jesus hates religion but wants relationship, What does it mean to follow Jesus and what is the cost?

Students created slogans about what it means to follow Jesus.

In Year 8 Christian Studies students have been exploring the Alpha Youth course. This course takes us through different aspects of what it means to be a Christian, including topics such as Who is Jesus? Why Did Jesus Die? Why and How Do You Read the Bible? And Why and How do I Pray?

In Year 10 Christian Studies we are focusing on the Bible and its important place in Christianity as God’s word revealed to his people. The students are undertaking a research project where they are looking into topics such as:

  • How the Bible was collated. Why did some books make the cut and others did not? Who decided this? What was the criteria they used to make these decisions?
  • The varied styles and genres of the books of the Bible, and what this means for how they are to be read and understood.
  • The original languages of the Bible and why we have so many different English translations.
  • How the Bible stands out as different when compared to other “Holy” texts from non-Christian faiths.

Quest - Mount Field National Park Walks

Grade 9 QUEST enjoyed several short walks in Mount Field National Park, including Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls and the Tall Trees Loop. We were blessed with perfect, Autumn weather. A great day was had by all, and we finished up with a BBQ near the visitors' centre.
