About this week-

It was a very short week for the preps, so we were extremely busy! We were able to fit in rotations for Maths and reading, while also enjoying some of our specialists on Monday and Tuesday. Emails about parent helpers for reading went home this week. If you have any questions about this please contact your child’s teacher.

Literacy

Our letter for the week was b and our character was Nelly the Numbat. Students enjoyed collecting leaves and sticks to make Nelly in our craft activity. We did a shortened version of reading groups, with only one rotation of four activities. We had a strong focus on blending sounds to help improve our reading skills, while we also completed regular Little Learners and handwriting activities.

Numeracy-

We continued on our work from week 1, revising numbers and subitising (recognising an amount without actually counting it). The students particularly enjoyed the warm ups at the beginning of class and the hands-on activities and games throughout the week.

Inquiry and Wellbeing-

Our Inquiry topic is focussed on health and is called ‘My Body Matters’. So far, we have done activities on identifying parts of the body and our personal strengths.

Our wellbeing lessons have covered being ‘Ready to Learn’ and what assists us as individuals and a class group to do this. We have also done a lesson comparing and contrasting what makes us different and what makes us the same.
